Next stage of Rhyll playground receives funding
Stage one of the Rhyll Foreshore Playspace is expected to be completed this month.

RHYLL Community Association (RCA) has welcomed funding of $235,000 for stage 2 of the Rhyll Foreshore Playspace project.

The playspace was included as part of the Rhyll boating facility upgrade, which was recently completed.

However, as the playspace project was first quoted in 2020, increases in materials and labour forced the upgrade to be delivered in two stages.

Stage one, which is expected to be completed this month, involved construction of a play tower, basket swing, cubby, informal play and picnic areas, pathways and landscaping.
While stage two includes an additional tower, swings and further pathways and landscaping.

RCA president Jim Kiley was pleased that the second stage can go ahead, as the association had campaigned for the funding.

“We’re very happy that it finally got the funding, we would have liked it to all be finished before Christmas,” he said.

“We’ve been two years without a playground.”

Mr Kiley added he believed the recent funding also included the provision for maritime display signs, which will feature a history of Rhyll.
