Kevin Walsh RFD, Major RAINF (Ret’d) can rest assured Legacy founder Stan Savige is far from forgotten nor unrecognised (Better recognition needed 9/5).

South Gippsland Legacy Group has been proudly carrying on the work of Legacy since my father and others started it in 1949.

As stated elsewhere in your edition, there are Stan Savige Memorial Gates at Coleman Park, site of Korumburra’s Cenotaph.

The gates were put there by the Rotary Club of Korumburra.

South Gippsland Legatees were disappointed this area was not included in this year’s Legacy Centenary torch relay, but they are planning a special recognition of their own.

Naturally, this will take place at Coleman Park and a plaque marking the Centenary of the wider Legacy movement will be attached to the memorial gates.

Also, Lieut General Sir Stanley Savige featured strongly in the recent Anzac Day speech I was privileged to deliver in Loch.
