NYORA fell agonisingly short against Yarragon on Saturday.
Yarragon travelled to the Nyora Recreation Reserve and claimed a 23-point win over the home side.
Nyora launched the game with an excellent start, kicking four goals.
In good conditions for footy, Nyora worked well as a unit and was able to convert its opportunities.
The goal-scoring effort was led by Jayden O’Brien, who played his best game of the season and kicked four goals for the day.
Captain Sam Dixon contributed three goals throughout the game, and singles were added by Lincoln Brock, Lachie Fievez and Dylan Heylen.
Nyora went into quarter-time with a three-goal advantage.
However, the game took a turn for Nyora in the second quarter.
Yarragon reassessed its game and regrouped, coming into the second term strong.

Yarragon took control of the quarter early and Nyora took too long to react to the change.
The Panthers fired seven goals, with captain Mitchell Jolly matching O’Brien with four goals of his own during the game.
Nyora managed to get one more goal on the board but had relinquished the lead heading into halftime.
The game levelled out, and play became slower and more congested.
William McGindle held his own in half-back, trying to slow Yarragon’s advances and putting in a solid effort.
Though the second half was fairly even, the damage had been done in the second quarter and Yarragon walked away victorious.
With a bye scheduled for the final round, Nyora will play its final game of the season this Saturday.
The Saints will take on Trafalgar – a team that beat them by just 31 points in round eight – and will be looking to put in a solid performance.
