Nyora sees out 2024 season

A STRONG fourth quarter performance brought the curtain down on Nyora’s 2024 season, but Trafalgar ultimately claimed a 68-point win.

Nyora travelled to Trafalgar to play its last game and enjoyed good weather conditions.

A slower first half from Nyora allowed Trafalgar to gain an early lead.

Nyora didn’t capitalise on all its opportunities, but its single goal of the first quarter was one to celebrate.

Aaron Coggins was brought out of the back pocket to play through the middle and managed to kick Nyora’s first goal of the game and his first goal of the season.

Unfortunately, the momentum died off in the second quarter and Nyora went missing up until halftime, letting Trafalgar pile on the goals.

Matthew Swenson led Trafalgar’s goalkicking efforts with six for the day.

Nyora regrouped for the third quarter and defended the ball well across the whole ground.

William McGindle had another good day in the defence and was named in Nyora’s best.

Nyora’s pressure successfully slowed Trafalgar’s run, with only two goals able to sneak passed the backmen.

Nyora rallied for the final quarter to ensure it left the season on a high note.

The Saints were competitive with Trafalgar and three goals were added by Lucas Lee, Tyler Campbell and Jayden O’Brien to see the game out.

Nyora has farewelled the 2024 season, as it has a bye in round 20.

The club will hold its presentation night on Saturday night and will be getting around the junior football club with the U12s ready to represent in the semi final this weekend. 

Nyora has interviews for a new Senior coach coming up soon and plans to launch its preseason around late November.
