Police Rounds: Could your CCTV/dashcam footage help solve a case?

MULTIPLE offences have occurred in recent weeks with police urging the community to come forwards if they have any information including CCTV or dashcam footage.

Vandals target vehicles
TWO cars have been graffitied with yellow paint overnight (October 18-19) in North Wonthaggi by vandals.
The vandalism occurred on Wentworth Road and Apple Berry Rise with police investigations currently underway.
So far only two vehicles have been reported but police have said more vehicles could have been targeted.
Anyone with information including CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist investigations are urged to contact Wonthaggi Police Station 5671 4100 or Crimestoppers.

Pedestrian struck at Sunset Strip
A PEDESTRIAN was struck by a light truck at 6.45pm last night (Wednesday October 18) on Phillip Island Road at the school crossing in Sunset Strip.
Paramedics attended the scene with a 38-year-old man from overseas sustaining minor injuries and taken to Wonthaggi Hospital.
The driver immediately stopped and rendered assistance at the scene.
The crossing was unmanned and unflagged at the time. Police would like to remind drivers to be vigilant and cautious ahead of the MotoGP weekend particularly at pedestrian crossings.

Wonthaggi Golf Club burgled
OFFENDERS forced entry into a shed at Wonthaggi Golf Club, on Doctor Sleeman Drive, at 1.30am on Wednesday October 11.
A golf cart was driven away, later located in a laneway between Nelson and Toorak Streets and subsequently returned.
Investigations are ongoing.

Mobility scooter and power tools taken in Wonthaggi
OFFENDERS entered the garage of a residence in Murray Street Wonthaggi via an unlocked door overnight on October 9-10, stealing a mobility scooter and power tools, investigations continue.

Wonthaggi South vehicle break ins
ON OCTOBER 8-9, unknown offenders targeted four vehicles in Wonthaggi South, with multiple items stolen.
Perpetrators entered a Merrin Crescent garage via a roller door, accessed a vehicle and stole power tools after which efforts were made to hot wire a car in Billson Street, with offenders rummaging through the vehicle.
Tools and clothing were stolen from a locked vehicle in Merrin Crescent, while an unlocked vehicle on Watt Street was rummaged through, with nothing taken.
Police encourage community members to be vigilant, with data showing unlocked vehicles, doors and garages make for easy criminal activity.

Hand tools taken in Wonthaggi
AN OPPORTUNISTIC burglary occurred on October 12 in Matthews Street, Wonthaggi, with hand tools taken from an unlocked trailer; investigations continue.

Police urge people to stay out of old Wonthaggi Secondary College campus
THERE have been a number of break-ins at the old Wonthaggi Secondary College campus in McBride Avenue, with its still operational alarm system alerting police.
While nothing has been reported stolen or damaged, Sergeant Sean Kennedy of Wonthaggi Police Station requested people stay out of the old school premises for their own safety and that of police.
He stressed that nothing of value remains in the old campus buildings.

Mess made at Wonthaggi Primary School
ON OCTOBER 13, an unknown offender broke into a section of Wonthaggi Primary School between 12pm and 3pm, throwing items around and ultimately leaving a mess in their wake. Inquiries are ongoing.

Reminder: Pay attention to changing speed limits
POLICE urge drivers to be aware of side road activated speed signs installed by VicRoads near the intersections of the Bass Highway with Leongatha South-Outtrim Road and Rougheads Road in Leongatha South. The electronic signs show a reduced speed limit of 70 kilometres per hour when activated, making it safer for drivers to enter the highway.
