POOWONG welcomed Ellinbank on Saturday in all grades.
The ground was excellent and the seniors had two changes with Luke Close and Micah Williames both in for their first senior game with the club.
Up against Ellinbank, a team probably in the top three, the boys were prepared to take it up to them as did the thirds and fourths with their improved performances from round one.
Poowong were kicking to the Nyora end, Ellinbank were out of the blocks early with three goals.
Poowong went forward early for a point, the boys were working hard and from a mark followed by an infringement a free kick was paid down field, Alex Henschell finished off with Poowong’s first goal.
Ellinbank went forward from a series of marks resulting in their fifth goal from the pocket followed by a couple of points.
Poowong unfortunately lost full forward Andrew Logan, with a hamstring and will probably miss a couple of weeks.
Jack Hazendonk was working hard as he always does, it’s amazing to see him bounce back after some of the tackles.
Ellinbank kicked their eighth goal followed by four points two from free kicks, Poowong had the ball in the forward line when the siren sounded.

The last quarter started with Ellinbank kicking two goals from free kicks to snuff out any chance of a comeback, but the boys fought it out right up to the final siren.
Poowong has a very young side which is improving each game. Important players make the most of the opportunities and ensure of your delivery to a teammate.
Coach Rod Gundrill is doing a good job, researches well for the game and speaks very well to the players all good signs.
