Here we go again, another council election and a new gambit of promises. We are still waiting for the promises from current council.
I remember a current councillor who promised to clean up Graham Street in Wonthaggi, lucky I am not holding my breath.
They certainly don’t listen to the ratepayers, too busy pushing their own agenda, more trees in the main street, removing multiple car park spaces, but that’s okay you can walk up to half a kilometre to Watt Street where the new parking spaces will be. they have forgotten the three r’s roads, rubbish and rates, well roads, go to Baillieu Steet behind Rose Lodge and the hospital, what an absolute disgrace, Mary Street, Longstaff Street, North Wonthaggi, Moray Street, dirt road, no guttering or footpaths, but we can always create another walking track.
The old tech/high school, still sitting idle, no one can make a decision on a large block of prime land.
We have close to the highest garbage rates in Victoria, no questions asked.
Cowes cultural centre nearly doubled in price, nearly $14m over budget, but no council consequences.
So are we in for another period of this same monetary waste.
I hope not, I was born and raised in Wonthaggi, and now watch it slowly denigrate the town and its history.
