SOUTH Gippsland Bass (SGB) swimming club held their third winter meet at the Leongatha pool on Sunday morning, with swimmers of all ages focusing on achieving their personal best times.

With Country and Victorian swimming championships coming up in August and September, a multiclass of swimmers from across Victoria participated in the ‘hot heat’ trying to get their country and state times.

SGB president Janelle Croatto said, “We have over 120 swimmers participating today. We invite clubs from all over Victoria to compete for their personal best. They’ll all be swimming different lengths and different strokes; it’s a great opportunity for the swimmers to get race experience for the championship events,” she said.

“It’s also a fun, social event, giving the clubs a chance to compete with friends from across Victoria.

I want to thank the parents for volunteering to coordinate the event, from officiating and timekeeping to fundraising, while the coaches focus on getting the kids to perform at their best.”
