U12 White team v Drouin White team (U12B Competition)
IT WAS a bright, sunny morning that saw Leongatha’s U12 White team take on ladder leaders Drouin White at the Knights home ground in the R10 fixture for the U12B competition.
This was the second time the Junior Knights had faced the Drouin Dragons this season and they were nervous following the difficulty of their first game. However, it soon became apparent that this game would be very different from their first!
With strong play from both sides, the first half was played relatively evenly with both teams scoring two goals each before half time. The second half was when the excitement began to build as Leongatha scored and took the lead.
Despite the strong attacking press by Drouin, Leongatha’s Noah made use of their high press to launch several successful counter attacks. At the opposite end of the pitch, Leongatha’s goalkeeper Cooper pulled off some composed saves with his defence lines clearing several balls off the goal line to a cheering sideline.
Leongatha worked hard to protect their advantage, ensuring that Drouin had very little space to attack and though the visiting Dragons fought hard they were unable to regain an advantage and the Knights finished the game with a well-deserved 6-4 win over the visitors.
