Leongatha Lady Knights return to winning ways

1 min read

LEONGATHA Lady Knights bounced back from a 4-1 loss to Drouin in round two, travelling to Inverloch on a cold, sunny day and leaving Thompson Reserve 4-0 victors.

The Knights responded well to the Drouin result, keen to get back on the pitch and work on their play.

Against Inverloch, Knights super striker Lisse Bath sent a composed shot into the back of the net early in the match to give Leongatha the advantage.

The Lady Knights worked hard to maintain composure against a strong Inverloch defensive line.

It was a scramble in the box which saw Leongatha’s Lauren finish the second goal of the game for the Knights.

Composure in Leongatha’s backline ensured that Inverloch had limited chances to attempt an attack on goal.

Full backs Jess Burrows and Zoe Harbris, in her debut for the Knights, were instrumental in shutting down attacks via the wing.

Another goal from Lisse Bath saw the Knights up 3-0 at halftime.

Inverloch came back in the second half with a stronger determination in defence, making it exceptionally difficult for the Knights to find the right combination to score.

Inverloch goalkeeper Sarah Cantwell, who was celebrating her 100th appearance for the club, had a strong game in goals.

It was a cross from winger Naomi that found the foot of right winger Emma Harvey to tap in that secured Leongatha’s final goal for the match.
