ONCE again, the rain couldn’t stop the Super Stars of the Bass Coast Mini Roo Hub. This week it was Inverloch hosting the huge crowd for round two.
The Wonthaggi Wombats were a couple of members down this week, but great support shown by the other teams; found three extra players, allowing us to have a subs and rotate players. Great work by our goalies Lachie and Hunter and our goal scorers Dom and Teddy.
The Wonthaggi Emus played the delightful Island Team and their coach Andrew was the ref and super shoe lace tier. The Emus welcomed Harvey who is very strong in defence. Goalies this week were George and Archie. Great team play and finding space.

The young Wonthaggi U14 team showed some great skills and were determined to win the ball from a fierce competition. A freekick for Inverloch tuned into a goal, which didn’t deter the team and they settled in some great team play. Ollie was unstoppable in the defensive midfield adapting to an unfamiliar position. A solid game from Archie and Veronica, who fought hard, produced some scoring opportunities. A late goal from Judah finished the game with a 1:4 loss.
After a disappointing loss last week, the Wonthaggi Women’s team was full of energy and excitement to take on our local rivals Inverloch Stars. The opposition came out with some strong attacking play, but with some great efforts from Aaliyah and Ania in defence the opponents were unable to find the net. A goal from Zoe A turned the game around and the team went into the half time break with optimism. The second half was a fierce battle with some of the younger players getting the opportunity to show their skills. An equaliser put more pressure on our attackers, who managed to find a clear run to score for a second time. The comeback from Inverloch put the whole defence line under pressure and with only minutes to go Inverloch managed to sneak the ball into the net to finish the game with a draw.
