As long-term owner of a property firstly at Cape Woolamai and last 22 years in San Remo, like many on Phillip Island, San Remo and the waterline area, to read local press on Bass Coast Council, it really is past the time to split the Bass area into two different Local Government Areas.

Last council elections were affected by COVID lockdowns, and the majority of owners were unable to cast their vote, as many owners in this area have two properties totally different to areas like Wonthaggi, where most owners are residents.

Once this State Election is over in November, it will be the time for this community to decide what they want their local council area to be like.

We’ve seen in the past with issues like the proposed Skate Park in San Remo, a council totally out of touch with the community it supposedly represents.

Rubbish collection every January is another disaster; promises made to fix the issue were blocked by councillors not affected.

Maybe an administrator being appointed for two years is an option while a review is carried out.
