I HAVE always voiced my opinion that the community and councillors have the right to freedom of expression. But what I witnessed at last Wednesday’s Bass Coast Council meeting reminded me of the last supper, where Judas betrayed Christ.
I feel for Cr Hallstead for being betrayed by Cr Ellis. He nominated her for mayor and when it came to the vote did a backflip.
I always believed Cr Ellis was a councillor of integrity but his backflip showed his true colours and, in my opinion, he is not worthy of representing the ratepayers of the Waterline Ward and should resign his position as our ward councillor. Politics may be accepted in Government cycles but why should we allow it in council matters. We don’t have a say in who should be mayor but our representatives should be aware of our community feelings before they commit to a vote, not as shown at this meeting.
