A man has died following a two-car collision in Cowes on Christmas day.

The collision, between a van and car, occurred at the intersection of Ventnor and Red Rocks roads about 6.45pm.

Sadly, the male passenger from the car died at the scene.

A woman from the same vehicle has been airlifted to a Melbourne hospital.

Two people from the van, believed aged in their 20s, appear to have escaped serious injury.

Major Collison Investigation Unit detectives are on scene and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

It is expected Ventnor Road will be closed for some time while detectives process the scene.

Motorcycle fatality

Emergency Services attended a fatal motorcycle crash on Phillip Island on Saturday, December 24.

It’s believed the motorcycle was travelling along Phillip Island Road in Cowes just after 9pm when it ran into a car.

Police performed CPR on the male rider until ambulance arrived but sadly, he died at the scene.

The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined at this stage.
