Volunteers wanted for Great Victorian Bike Ride

THE Great Victorian Bike Ride will be coming through Wonthaggi on December 3.

Melbourne-based cyclist Michael Fox has entered the challenge the fifth time with a team consisting of Bernie Fox, Marion Fox and Greg Mundie on a tandem bike. 

The three-day bike ride will be going through Sale on December 1, ending in Wonthaggi.

Michael and his team are looking for a driver to accompany the team from Wonthaggi.

The driver would drive the team’s care back to Sale, and then return to Wonthaggi.

The team is also one cyclist down and is looking for a fifth person to join.

No tandem experience is required.

“The bike travels along very well given there are five people working and only wind resistance for one,” Michael said.

“We all work together as a team. All the pedals go around together, and the driver controls the gears and breaks.

“Flats and slightly downhill is awesome, but uphill can be hard.”

Michael has owned the bike for 10 years, made in the US by Comotion Cycles.

He said the Great Victorian Bike Ride has always been great fun with plenty of people to meet along the way.

The team also has music on board and produces a video at the end.
