FORMER Morwell East and Boolarra footballer Charlie Cauchi, already a Life Member of the Mid Gippsland Football Netball League (MGFNL) was elevated to ‘Legend’ status at the league’s season launch in Morwell, with current league secretary Pauline Tantau awarded Life Membership.
Cauchi played over 200 games for Morwell East and more than 100 for Boolarra, also coaching the latter.
“Charlie has been a selfless servant to Mid Gippsland football, with over 50 years dedication to the game he loves,” MGFNL publicity officer Rob Popplestone said.
“He played the game hard and loves it with a passion.”
Cauchi earned abundant accolades during his playing days, including best and fairest honours and being club champion of Boolarra.
New MGFNL Life Member, Tantau has been the league secretary since 2016, having helped keep things running smoothly at Morwell East Football Netball Club since assisting the canteen manager in 2002.
By the following year, she was already club secretary, a role she filled for 12 years.
Well before becoming league secretary, Tantau was Morwell East’s delegate to the then Mid Gippsland Football League.
Morwell East awarded Tantau Life Membership of the club in 2011.
