ANYONE wandering in the vicinity of the Leongatha railyards redevelopment will see a pile of dirt, approximately 10 metres high, with a new concrete path zigzagging to the top, apparently going to nowhere.

Further examination suggests it will lead to where a future footbridge will join a walkway between the shops into Bair Street. Seems this will be in place of the large steel footbridge which was pulled down some years ago.

This zigzag path may be a novelty once or twice, but I can’t imagine many using it in preference to the footpath to the north or the quiet roadway to the south.

I’m guessing council will say it’s to do with the required gradient and compliance etc, etc. Maybe we could ask council about this, the cost involved and what other options there were, but council doesn’t really like to answer questions and it is usually hard to get a straight answer.

So, I’m hoping whoever gets elected to council will bring back questions from the gallery at council meetings, public presentations and do away with council’s confidential meetings so everybody can know what is going on.
