A MASSIVE partnership between Gavin and Jake Hackett saw Nyora overcome a massive challenge against OMK on Saturday.

OMK batted first after winning the toss and Brad Hayes 40 was able to steady the ship after a shaky start.

But then Owen Fitzpatrick 51, Shane Taylor 44, and Adam Fisher 32 all started to get amongst the runs, and they powered the Diggers to 9/225 after 40 overs.

From the outset, it was clear Nyora were up for the challenge and opener Henry Dolphin 31 got away early.

After he was caught out, Gavin Hackett arrived at the crease, and he was soon joined by Jake Hackett.

The two put on a 123-run partnership, ending when Gavin was eventually dismissed for 85.

But Jake kept going and he was on 59* when they passed OMK four wickets down in the 40th over.

Burra breeze past Club

KORUMBURRA completed a well-rounded team effort with a comfortable win over Wonthaggi Club at the Korumburra Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

Wonthaggi were sent in by Korumburra and Luke Sibley 21* got some runs away early, but they were in deep trouble after losing early wickets.

Luckily Rohan Todd 55 came to the rescue through the middle, but he could only get them to 9/140 after 40 overs.

Rumesh Rangana 25 and Cory Arnold 39 started Korumburra’s chase nicely and captain Daniel Salmon 30* got his side over the line with 13 overs to spare and seven wickets in hand.

Glen Alvie fizzle out against Foster

AFTER keeping Foster to 140, Glen Alvie couldn’t overcome a dominant bowling performance from Ben East at Butch West Oval.

Captain Josh Toner 20, Jack Gay 27, and Tim Blake 23 all had nice innings’ for Foster but a well-rounded Glen Alvie bowling attack kept them at 8/140.

Glen Alvie didn’t get the start they wanted with their top order all failing to reach double figures, but Adam Honeysett did his best to turn the tide.

Honeysett was eventually dismissed for 31 and Foster took back control of the game, mainly thanks to the superb bowling of East.

East finished the match with 4/14 off 6.1 overs when he took Glen Alvie’s last wicket, getting them all out for 87.

Dalton Clearihan-Jervies also picked up four wickets, capping off a brilliant day for the Tigers.

Cantwell cleans up KB

MEENIYAN Dumbalk United has defeated Kilcunda Bass, but the win wasn’t as easy as they would’ve been expecting after Ben Cantwell took five wickets in the first innings.

Captain Ash Larcombe was the only KB batsman who could inflict any damage on MDU’s bowlers and when he was dismissed for 38, MDU got right on top.

Cantwell got Larcombe’s wicket and four more followed, finishing with 5/13 off 7.5 overs.

Kilcunda Bass were all out for 112 with a ball to spare, and MDU captain Joel Sinclair 21 then started their innings nicely, but it wasn’t all their way.

Daniel Bettles (3/19 off eight) was bowling beautifully for KB and MDU was struggling against him and the rest of their attack.

They eventually found some runs through the middle order but in the end, it was KB’s extras that ruined their chances of a comeback, and MDU passed them seven wickets down with two overs to spare.
