PHILLIP Island’s Steve McIntyre has blasted an unbeaten 141 runs, helping his side smash Leongatha Town on their home deck.
McIntyre opened the batting for Phillip Island, and he and Tom Blackwell 48 had a 96-run partnership for the second wicket.
Geoff Odgers also chimed in for 37 runs, but it was McIntyre who dominated the contest, hitting 23 fours and one six on his way to 141 not out.
Phillip Island finished their 40 overs at 4/265 and Luke Ashton 28 found some runs opening the batting for Town.
James Dean 36 also found the boundary multiple times, but the rest of the line-up couldn’t cope, and they finished their innings on 89 runs in the 26th over.
Baldi unbeaten in Nerrena win
NERRENA’s David Baldi has led his side to a convincing victory over the Leongatha Imperials at Nerrena Recreation Reserve.
The Imperials batted first, with opener Flynn Materia scoring a valuable 32 runs to start the match.
He didn’t receive a lot of support until Joel Renden arrived, who was working the ball around the field nicely.
Renden finished on 54 and with some good knocks towards the back end, Leongatha’s innings ended at 7/152.
Ashley Harrison 24 and Tadgh Gannon 22 batted nicely for Nerrena, but it was Baldi who led the way, making 66 of 79 balls.
The Imperials couldn’t take Baldi’s wicket, and they passed the desired total with 10 overs to spare and eight wickets in hand.
Inverloch holds off defiant Demons
INVERLOCH has overcome a late charge from MDU in B1, holding on by three runs in the final over.
The Stingrays batted first at Meeniyan and the 82-run partnership of Brett Debono 61 and John Richardson 33 set them up to finish on 8/151 after 40 overs.
MDU weren’t daunted by their opponents’ solid total, but it became more difficult when they lost their first three batsman for not many.
Kurt Sinclair 31 and Tom Gordon 23 soon started to find their groove towards the tail end, but they couldn’t get the Demons over the line, with the Inverloch bowlers defending vehemently to the final ball.
Cougars keep clear of Korumburra
KOONWARRA L/RSL has enjoyed a solid win against Korumburra, taking the 12 points after finishing 32 runs in front.
Jordan Pickersgill 42 was seeing them nicely opening the batting for Koonwarra, and Brendan Tomada proved to be a vital part of the team, after they lost two early wickets.
Tomada would go on to make 50, leading the way at the Cougars set a total of 9/159.
Korumburra’s run chase didn’t get off to an ideal start, and from there they were behind the eight ball for the rest of the day.
Thomas Jenkin 21, captain Darren Scott 25 and Jeremey Oxlee 32 all batted well but there was too much left up to too few and they finished all out in the 38th over on 127.

Giles goes large for Poowong Loch
POOWONG Loch’s Ben Giles has blasted his side to one of the biggest totals of the LDCA season, contributing 146 runs in their massive victory over Phillip Island.
Poowong Loch batted first at Rhyll and after Said Magnusson’s 41, Giles was determined to make it a big day.
He was blasting boundaries everywhere, and with the help of teammate Jason Hibbs 42 they built a 167-run partnership.
After hitting 15 fours and eight sixes, Giles was eventually caught on 146 but the damage was done, and Poowong Loch finished on 5/266.
Phillip Island made a valiant attempt at chasing down the huge score, with Connor Epifano 26, Dave Womersley 21, and Andrew Tolley 20 all having a crack.
But ultimately, they fell well short, as Poowong Loch had them all out for 140 in the 37th over.
KB can’t catch Club
DESPITE an unbeaten 98 from Jayden Tregear, Kilcunda Bass has failed to pass Wonthaggi Club at McMahon’s Reserve on Saturday.
Club opened the batting after Kilcunda Bass sent them in, and straight away Kevin McLean was finding the boundary.
He went on to make 63, and solid scores from Mitch Davey 49, Brad Jeffries 40, and Drew Herbert 28* saw them finish at 8/207, even with a four-wicket haul from KB’s Shaun Tapscott.
Brett Joseph 29 started KB’s chase well, but it was Tregear who was troubling the Club bowlers most.
He eventually worked his way into the 90s, but the overs ran out, with KB finishing 33 runs behind on 4/174 and Tregear unbeaten on 98.
Glen Alvie fight past Foster
GLEN Alvie has defeated Foster by six wickets, wrestling back the momentum after a shaky start at Foster.
The hosts won the toss and batted, and they were looking good early when Billy Davy 37 and Jake Pilkington 17 got them to 50 without losing a wicket.
However, Glen Alvie’s bowlers found a way to get back on top, especially Clint Honeysett and Joe Burke.
Honeysett took 3/8 off his eight overs and Burke took 4/22 off seven overs, as they tore through Foster’s line-up.
Will Roffey 22 hit a couple of sixes towards the end, but he could only bring their total to 95.
Andrew Macfarlane 52 did all the heavy lifting for Glen Alvie at the top of the order, and when he was finally caught out, the middle order got the side over the line in the 30th over, four wickets down.

OMK has obliterated Nyora in B2, chasing their total in less than five overs.

Nyora were soon all out for 30 and OMK got past them in the fifth over after losing two wickets.
