A GRASSFIRE on French Island has been deemed “no longer a threat”.

Authorities issued the message via VicEmergency at 7.41am today (Friday, March 11).

“It is now safe for you to return to your home or business,” the advice read.

Authorities urged people to stay alert, be aware of road hazards such as fallen trees, and check for damage.

“Emergency vehicles remain in the area,” the advice read.

“This will be the final message issued for this incident.”

At around 7.30pm last night, residents were urged to “stay informed and monitor conditions” as firefighters responded to a fire on Scotchmans Road, French Island.
