THE Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning has this week announced it will be closing its customer service office at Yarram this year, consolidating its offices at the Rodgers Street facility.

DELWP says it will continue its “strong presence” in Yarram, with 15 forest and fire operations staff continuing to work from its Rodgers Street facility.

DELWP said there would be no job losses as a result of the closure of this office.

“For some time, this office has only been home to two DELWP employees despite being set up for 100. Those two have taken advantage of DELWP’s flexible working policy and relocated to a nearby, busier office,” DELWP said in a statement.

“During the pandemic, many of DELWPs services transitioned to being provided online, making services easier to use and more accessible to the community, particularly farmers.

“The range of services available online or through the customer call centre is continuing to expand, and we are implementing more efficient online solutions, making it easier to find what you need, when you need and without having to travel long distances or visit our offices during business hours. You will still be able to speak to a staff member if you need assistance or advice.

“The suite of services provided by DELWP can be easily accessed at any time and location at delwp.vic.gov.au. Our Customer Support Team will continue to provide phone and online services.

“To talk with one of our team, or for information on any matter that you would previously have visited a DELWP office for, please contact us by phone on 136 186 between 8am and 6pm or by email anytime at customer.service@delwp.vic.gov.au.

“Yarram continues to be an important hub for public land management and emergency services. The emergency response capability of Forest Fire Management Victoria will not be affected.”
