GEOSCIENCE Australia has recorded a magnitude 2.9 earthquake at Sandy Point at 7.04:53pm last night, Monday, April 17.
The tremor at a depth of 5.81km lasted for 1.65 seconds.
It was recorded as far away as Moorlands in Tasmania, a distance of over 400km.
Did you feel it?
Gerry Day, who operates the Sandy Point General Store, said she didn't feel it but a number of people coming in for milk, bread and the paper this morning reported hearing it, if not feeling it.
"Yes, there's been a bit of talk about it this morning but I didn't feel it," said Gerry.
"One lady came in and said she heard it rather than felt it. Maybe they felt it more down at the Prom."
Ms Day said said Easter and the School Holidays had been "steady" rather than busy down at Sandy Point but with good weather expected at the weekend, the last of the holidays, it might finish strongly.
