IN memory of Rohan Treacy, the Korumburra community came together on Saturday raising $39,307 for Beyond Blue and an additional $6730 for Rohan’s little brother Braiden.

The tribute to Ro began with online donations reaching $10,165 before the fundraising day even began, and Lang Lang Op Shop generously donated $5,000.

Organiser Jack Gilchrist said there was an amazing turn out to all three events which created a perfect day in memory of Ro.

The fundraising day began with a three-hour Hiit session at Pure Fitness Korumburra ran by Alma Morrison; teams kept a high level of energy as they alternated seven stations of heart pumping intense training from 9am until 12pm.

“Alms and the team at Pure Fitness raised $1707 with an additional $243 from the barbecue and Greg Soultanidis generously donated all profits from the coffee van, Little Boy Brew.”

The next event began at 1pm with a luncheon hosted by Fish, Elyse and the team at The Middle Korumburra Hotel who generously donated $1270 of their profits, with presenter from Beyond Blue speaking of suicide as the leading cause of death for Australians between the ages of 15 and 44, and 75% of those who take their own life are male.

The event continued through to the evening with Trudy and the team at Austral Hotel Korumburra hosting an auction, live music and a live head shave on Hayden, Jack, and Jack – plus a chest wax.

“Entry donations totalled $3,265 plus an additional $1,700 for the boys to wax and shave their mullets,” said Jack.

Abbey Kelson, Samantha Butler, and Joanne Greaves were selling raffle tickets throughout the day with award winning prizes donated by local businesses, and star auctioneers Josh and Jimmy held the auction with all proceeds donated to the worthy cause.
