INVERLOCH KONGWAK is set to take on West Gippsland football’s biggest challenge this weekend, when they welcome the unbeaten Tooradin Dalmore down the highway for a huge clash in Road Safety Round.
The visitors have gone from the surprise packet to the benchmark of the competition this season, sporting a colossal 13-0 record, that has them sitting pretty, atop the league ladder.
However, the Sea Eagles have been hot on their tails having put together a brilliant season themselves to date, their 11 wins and two losses has them in third, only percentage behind Phillip Island.
Both sides will seek to remind themselves of their previous contest, back in Round seven at Tooradin Recreation Reserve, which was a back-and-forth affair with some fast and skilled footy played by both teams.
The hosts ended up running away with that one in the final term, booting five goals to none to win by 37-points.
IK will no doubt take motivation from their previous meeting and look to claim what would be a monumental victory for their season.
There will be mouth-watering battles all over the field, as the grunt of Brent Macaffer heads the Seagulls midfield against the class of IK’s Oscar Toussaint.
Lewis Rankin and the young IK back six look to stop the dangerous Stewart Scanlon and James Trezise, while Marcus Toussaint and Piva Wright do battle in the ruck.
Although the crowd won’t have to wait until 2pm for a blockbuster, as ladder-leaders IK face third-placed Tooradin in the under 18s, the Seagulls reserves take their perfect record in to face IK hungry to punch their ticket to the finals and the IK under 16s look to keep their perfect season intact.
And of course, the two A grade sides battle it out for outright top spot, with both teams locked at 48-points apiece going into the weekend.
You can catch the action at Inverloch Recreation Reserve from 9am, make sure to pick up a blue armband for Road Safety Round.
