Car accident blocks Bass Highway

BASS Highway to the west of Pearsalls Road is down to one lane as emergency services work to extricate a driver after a car accident around 9.50am this morning. 

It's understood the driver was travelling west and slowed to turn right when a vehicle behind failed to slow.

The driver in the vehicle behind is uninjured and the driver in the vehicle hit will be taken to hospital as a precaution.

The highway is down to one lane with traffic flowing alternatively in both directions but delays expected for at least the next hour.

Inverloch Police along with Bass Coast Highway are on scene directing traffic with Inverloch CFA and Wonthaggi SES attending to the accident. Paramedics are also on scene.
