A Grade, Division 1

THE titans of A1 Nerrena and Wonthaggi Club went head-to-head in the final round of the home and away season at the Nerrena Recreation Reserve.

Although Club won the game, Nerrena had the last laugh by finishing a game clear on the ladder to be named minor premiers.

Coming into Saturday, Nerrena was chasing Club’s score of 10/252.

Club captain Joel Brann led his team to victory by taking 4/29.

He and Fraser West demolished Nerrena’s top order.

Batting sixth, Mitch Clark had Nerrena back on course with 35 runs before he was dismissed LBW by Ryan Thomas.

Timothy Wightman and Jarrod Hoy added 25 and 31 runs respectively to the tally.

Thomas took three wickets for the day and West claimed two.

Nerrena was bowled out 10/151 in the 56th over.

Mock’s masterclass secures Island victory

PHILLIP Island successfully chased down Leongatha Town’s 10/236 at Scorpion Park.

Phillip Island sent in Lachlan Cleeland and Kurt Lane to bat first.

Lane made 28 runs before he was caught by Rhett Hume off the bowling of Jack Hume and Cleeland was bowled by Archie Fixter for 37 runs.

Jack Hume claimed another victim when he dismissed Brodie Johnston for a duck, but captain Daniel Mock made all the difference for Phillip Island. Mock made 101 not out, to sure up the win.

Kohen Beaumont added a further 41 runs late in the innings.

Madura Madusanka was Town’s top wicket-taker, claiming 3/52.

Phillip Island won with a final tally of 6/239.

Imperials finish on a high

THE Imperials continued its first innings against Koonwarra L/RSL, declaring with a score of 9/187 and winning the match.

Koonwarra L/RSL had been bowled out 10/78 the previous week.

The Imperials resumed its innings with a score of 2/129.

Timothy Sauvarin and captain Jack Ginnane were at the crease.

Ginnane made the top score of 63 runs before he was caught by Matt Cooke off the bowling of Jason Kennedy.

Sauvarin was also caught by Cooke off the bowling of Joshua Thomas for 20 runs.

Aydan Williams contributed 31 runs and Luke Rogers made 25 runs.

Kennedy had Koonwarra L/RSL’s best bowling figures, taking 5/45.

This included the dismissal of Rowen McLennan for a duck and vice-captain Lachie Wright for a golden duck.

Thomas took 2/43, including the dismissal of Nick Eddy for a golden duck.

The Imperials faced 56 overs before declaring.

OMK wraps it up in first innings

OMK had a first-innings win against Korumburra last week and played out 35 overs of its second innings on Saturday.

Clayton Quaife and Zavier Lamers were the opening partners.

Lamers was bowled LBW for a duck by Shane Dole.

Ethan Lamers batted third and made the top score of 33 not out.

Quaife made 30 runs before he was dismissed LBW by Gayathra Shehan Amarasinghe Mudalige and captain Koby Brann made 25 runs before he was caught by Rumesh Rangana off the bowling of Tom Crocker.

OMK opted to declare with a score of 3/92.

The A1 semi-finals will kick off on Saturday.
Nerrena is slated to play OMK and Wonthaggi Club will be pitted against Phillip Island.
