The COVID pandemic has adversely affected so many people, families and organisations. One of them is the much loved, Wonthaggi Citizens Band.
Each year, the Band has traditionally held a Gala Concert which besides providing a wonderful night of music and entertainment, is their major fundraiser for the year.
Because of the pandemic, there have been no concerts for nearly three years, but I am delighted that on the evening of Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the Art Centre in Wonthaggi, the wonderful night of music and entertainment will again be held.
There is nothing to match the sound of a Brass Band and particularly our National Award Winning, Wonthaggi Brass Band.
If you haven’t attended in the past and love music, I can assure you this a night not to be missed. Tickets cost $30, which in my opinion is unbeatable value for a wonderful night of music and entertainment, which has always eagerly been looked forward to each year by music lovers throughout South Gippsland.
Founded 112 years ago, the Wonthaggi Citizens Band is one of the oldest in the nation.
The Band takes in newcomers each year, mainly young, teaches them music and trains them to become acclaimed and award winning Band’s people.
The tuition and instruments are supplied by the Band who throughout their existence have relied on public support for financial help.
The Band’s finances have been severely impacted with the pandemic cutting off their main income over nearly three years.
I strongly encourage all interested in great music and entertainment to support the Band this year and enjoy a wonderful night of entertainment.
I am certain that all attending will remember the night as a highlight of their year and like so many, will look forward to returning each year.
Tickets can be purchased at the Wonthaggi Arts Centre or online at TryBookings.com. Whether you live at Phillip Island, Korumburra, Leongatha, Foster or anywhere in between, it will be worth the drive.
