Fire in ceiling during construction works at Wonthaggi Workmen's Club
THERE is currently a fire in the roof of the Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club. It’s believed 100 people have been evacuated, with the fire not yet under control. It has been reported the fire may have started from construction work on site
THERE is currently a fire in the roof of the Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club with smoke earlier seen escaping from the top front of the building.
It’s believed over 100 people were inside at the time and have been safely evacuated.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage with Fire Investigation to examine.
Construction work is currently being undertaken at the site.
Local firefighters from Wonthaggi, Inverloch and Dalyston are on scene with police blocking traffic in both directions along Graham Street between McKenzie Street and McBride Avenue.
