AN EPIC U15 Grand Final was played at Outtrim on Sunday, March 9.

Glen Alvie batted first in the split innings format, reaching 1/66 in their first 20 overs. Archie Donohue batted well with support from Archie Luke, George Edwards 2/26 bowled well early for Korumburra/Nyora.

Their turn with the bat saw Korumburra/Nyora reach 1/60 from their 20 overs with openers Evan Belvedere with 27  and Toby Nicholas batting very well, the game very much even.

Glen Alvie’s second block of 20 overs saw Archie Donohue retire for a very well-made 50. Will Simmons, Tony Bals Jarvis Hynes and Nate Luff all chipped in to help Glen Alvie post a good total.

Needing 110 to win from their remaining 20 overs Korumburra/Nyora were gallant in the chase. The loss of key man Tyler Dole early in the chase saw Toby Nicholas with 37 runs  and pocket rocket Flynn Belvedere scoring 14, form a great partnership to have the chase on track.

Good shots along with aggressive running had Glen Alvie under pressure.

The game then swung around again with the introduction of Lauren Sinclair and Grace Luff into the attack, both girls bowled full and straight which saw four wickets fall in a flurry and the game changed momentum Glen Alvie’s way again.

Enter Jonah Foster and Hudson Jefferies who swung the game back again with a 40-run stand in quick time, Foster playing a great knock of 23 with some brilliant shots off his pads and one great uppercut.

The atmosphere at the ground was fantastic, a credit to the clubs to have so much support.

Player of the match, Archie Donohue then came back into the game and with a cool head picked up the last three wickets to seal the win, finishing with 3/12.

In what was a great display of Junior Cricket that went down to the last over the game indeed was a real credit to both teams.

Well done to Premiers Glen Alvie on keeping their group together and having a brilliant season.

Thank you to umpires Les White and Neil Grabham for supporting Junior Cricket, OMK Cricket Club for hosting the game along with Paul The Pieman for their continued support of Junior Cricket.

Final scores:Glen Alvie 5/169 defeated Korumburra / Nyora 165
