A Grade, Division 2

CAPTAIN Matthew Grayson drove Kilcunda-Bass to a comfortable score against Nyora at the Nyora Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

Kilcunda-Bass won the toss, sending in Cameron Davidson and Robert Wallace.

Reece Cordeux claimed Davidson’s wicket for four runs, which sent Brad Wright to the crease.

Wallace and Wright paired well, making 22 and 73 runs respectively.

Grayson was the fourth bat, and he scored 100 not out, significantly uplifting Kilcunda-Bass’ score alongside Wright.

Todd Smith added 24 runs late in the innings, which was welcomed by the Sharks as Nyora’s Cordeux, Mitch Rowe and Aaron Kaddatz wiped out tailenders Shaun Lucas, Harrison

Berry and Ryan Brown in a slew of ducks.

Cordeux was Nyora’s top bowler, taking 3/57, and Aaron Kaddatz took 2/42.

Kilcunda-Bass made 10/271 before it was bowled out.

Nyora will have its chance at bat on Saturday.

Slow going for Glen Alvie

Embattled Glen Alvie will need to hold its nerve to come away with a win over MDU this weekend.

Glen Alvie won the toss and chose to bat but found it difficult to hit the scoreboard early.

Number five bat and Glen Alvie captain Ben McRae was the one to lead by example, correcting the course with a top score of 38 runs.

However, the only other

significant score was 10 runs contributed by opening batsman Archie Donohue, leaving Glen Alvie in danger.

Sembakuttige Chathura Lakshan caused the most headaches for Glen Alvie, claiming 5/32, including the dismissal of Raphael Spiteri-Stevens for a duck late in the innings.

MDU vice-captain Mitch McGrath was also a multiple wicket taker.

Glen Alvie was bowled out 10/105, setting MDU a modest target to chase on Saturday.

Match abandoned

The game between Foster and Inverloch was abandoned due to inclement weather.

They will go head to head in a one day match at the Foster Cricket Ground this weekend.
