A FOURTEEN-point lead at three-quarter time was not enough for Inverloch-Kongwak to hold back a hungry Tooradin Dalmore side on Saturday.
The young Sea Eagles were to be commended for their high-energy performance, taking it up to the second-ranked team for most of the match.
However, Tooradin Dalmore’s endurance won out in the end.
A strong wind played a role in the game, and Inverloch-Kongwak kicked with the advantage in the first quarter.
The Sea Eagles used the ball well, which resulted in a few late goals.
However, they were disappointed to give away two goals to Tooradin Dalmore.
Inverloch-Kongwak continued to hold its opposition well in the second quarter, not allowing Tooradin Dalmore to take full advantage of the wind and keeping the scores almost level.
Harry Butcher, Archie Terlich and Zak Box put on a great performance in the backline to keep Tooradin Dalmore reasonably quiet.
The Sea Eagles held on to a lead by just one point going into halftime.



The battle continued through the third quarter.
Callan O’Flynn played exceptionally well against Tooradin Dalmore’s big ruckman and Taite Cumming played an excellent game up forward.
However, Inverloch-Kongwak did not make the most of its opportunities and did not extend its lead enough heading into the last quarter.
Inverloch-Kongwak held Tooradin Dalmore off for the first 12 minutes of the final term, but a couple of goals gave the opposition the momentum to kick away, flattening the Sea Eagles by 40 points.
Inverloch-Kongwak will be regrouping this week to come back strong for its matchup against Korumburra-Bena.
The Sea Eagles met the Giants in round one and won by 27 points.
Historically, the matchup has been a tough one and the Sea Eagles are expecting the Giants to come into the match with some confidence after their win against Koo Wee Rup.Inverloch-Kongwak is looking to bounce back from its loss and knows what needs to be done to get back on the winners list.
Inverloch-Kongwak remains seventh on the ladder and is still hopeful of earning its place in the top six.
During the home stretch to end the home and away series, the Sea Eagles will be focusing on playing a full four quarters and getting the job done.
