B Grade, Division 1
WHILE Korumburra’s bowlers snavelled seven wickets, Phillip Island scored at an impressive rate, reaching the 132-run victory target in the 27th over.
Korumburra co-captain Shane Dole backed the Cobras’ decision to bat first with a knock of 56 off 63 balls.
Jobe Williams grabbed 3/22 off his eight overs for the Sharks after Timothy Niven did early damage with the ball removing Trevor and Matthew Allen cheaply.
Niven finished with 2/19 off his full complement, while Harry Arceo accounted for Korumburra opener Zachary Barrett for just six on the way to figures of 2/28 off eight overs.
When Phillip Island began its reply, early wickets to Mathew Olden had the Cobras in the hunt, with the Sharks’ opening combination dispatched by the time the score was 26 but skipper Kurt Lane helped advance the team total to 82 before falling for 40.
The Korumburra bowlers kept plugging away but there weren’t enough runs to defend.
Noah Christensen captured 2/7 off his three overs, with Olden finishing with 2/23 from the same number of overs.
Team effort guides OMK to comfortable win
XAVIER Lamers’ unbeaten 40 and four other solid contributors ensured Outtrim Moyarra Kongwak posted a solid total, with Meeniyan-Dumbalk United never threatening to get close to the 158 runs required.
The Demons were skittled for just 64, their cause not helped when two of the top three batsmen were run out.
Hayden James and Adam Busana shared evenly in six wickets for OMK, Busana conceding just seven runs from his five overs and James 13 off his full allotment.

Wayne Prosser and Dale Thomas top scored for MDU, making 12 apiece, with Thomas’ determined stay lasting 59 balls.
Earlier, Jake Palmer (2/32) was the multiple wicket taker for the Demons.
Town makes most of its runs against Imperials
SETTING Imperials just 103 runs to win suggested Leongatha Town had fallen short of what was required after choosing to bat but the Scorpions claimed a 26-run victory.
Levi Hickey’s 5/15 from eight overs set up Town’s success, and only James Jeffery (19), Gary Sauvarin (16) and Kristian Gray (12) reached double figures for Imperials, 14 of the side’s 76 runs coming in extras.
Earlier, Yuthil Ratnaike top scored for the Scorpions with 21, edging out teammate Travis Strybosch by a run as the Imperials bowling attack gave their side every chance of victory.
Imperials skipper Gray grabbed 5/8 with half his eight overs being maidens and was well supported by James Jeffery (1/7 from eight overs) and others.
Koonwarra Leongatha RSL can’t contain Inverloch
AFTER inserting Inverloch, Koonwarra Leongatha RSL’s attack couldn’t contain the Stingrays to a manageable score despite taking seven wickets.
A dashing 98 from captain Brett Debono was the standout contribution for Inverloch, although he was disappointingly run out before notching a century.
Jakob Strickland’s score of 40 was next best for the winning team.
William Cashin took 3/21 for the Cougars, including the dismissal of Inverloch opener Riley Harris for a duck that made his skipper’s decision to bowl first look good early.
