When receiving the distinguished honour Steven acknowledged the cabinet committee for their efforts in setting up the 50th celebration before stating that he became a player as a junior cricketer winning a premiership as young kid. With friendship being the theme for the day, Steven acknowledged the leadership in the game that helped form the mateship that the club brought to so many players and their families.

“It’s been a place to put your efforts into, but I’ve got back a lot more than what I put in, and that same sentiment is associated to everybody – it’s a community club that is for the community,” said Steven.
