AFTER exploring their options and applying to join the Ellinbank District Football Netball League, the Korumburra-Bena Football Netball Club were rejected.

Following a meeting last Wednesday night, the Giants have decided to go ahead and continue in the West Gippsland Football Netball Competition next year.

Club members and passionate stakeholders are confident the club can, and is, moving in a positive direction with a newfound urge to reinvigorate their beloved Giants.

They have already made some positive moves resigning young local guns Bailey Patterson, Jay Walker and Joel Cuman as well as head coach Leigh Cole.

Another huge advertisement for the club is the resigning of 2022 star recruit Paul Fermanis for the 2023 season.

The club hasn’t had the most successful past couple of seasons, and this has drawn people away, however, it must be said that isn’t a strong excuse.

Korumburra-Bena possesses all the pieces needed for success including a full quota of teams both on the netball courts and the footy field, as well as an amazing and respected community, with countless great Giants lifers.

They are only steps away from the senior success injuries and lack of local commitment robbed them off this year.

With a preseason under their belt and greater community involvement both on and off the field, the Giants will be a terrific chance of moving themselves up the ladders next year in the WGFNC.

They held their AGM last night where the committee was reviewed and elected for 2023; more to come next week.
