THE Korumburra Cricket Club held their 50th reunion at the club rooms on Saturday evening, welcoming players, and families from the original eras on the ground, forming back in 1973.
Players gathered in the club rooms before the formalities; sharing stories of their years playing cricket in South Gippsland for the Korumburra Cricket Club (KCC) affiliated with the Leongatha and District Cricket Association.
Kevin Smith shared his 35 years playing for the club, as he reminisced on his days playing the great game from 1950 before the club amalgamated into KCC.
Kevin was part of the 1957-’58 and 1958-’59 premiership and president of KCC in 1982-’88.
Kevin said he was a part of the club when it was the Leongatha League, and it was good to look back at the photos from his days playing as a junior.
President Tim Morrison began the official proceedings, acknowledging the life members of the club, before handing the microphone to Wes Olden to announce the Team of the Half Century…

Max Beard: x3 A Grade Batting, x4 A Grade Bowling and x5 A Grade COTY.



Paul Mathieson: x4 A Grade Batting, x2 A Grade Bowling and x7 A Grade COTY.
Udara Weerasinghe: x3 A Grade Batting, x3 A Grade Bowling and x4 A Grade COTY.
Terry McGann: Inducted as Vice-Captain of the Team of the Half Century.
Jeff Walsh: x1 A Grade Batting, x2 A Grade Bowling and x1 A Grade COTY.
Daryl Nolan: x2 A Grade Bowling. Winning three premierships. A respected bowler.
Shane McGrath: x5 A Grade Bowling. A respected bowler for the entirety of his career, and;
Mark Crocker: Captain 1979/80 premiership team and x1 A Grade Batting.
After inducting the players to the Team of the Half Century, Shane Dole then spoke of the privilege to be received into the Team of the Half Century and to be elected Captain.
“Thank you, it is a great honour, and congratulations to each and every one of you,” said Shane.
The club continued celebrations with a BBQ lunch and the A Grade game on the Sunday afternoon.
