The thieves also broke into Lime and Co's Airstream-style catering van in what looks to have been a targeted business hit.

THE spate of car thefts or near thefts of cars continued in Bass Coast overnight on Wednesday with a local café owner and catering operator reporting on social media that three cars had been stolen from their Rodondo Place home in Inverloch.

But it appears to have been a targeted hit on the business owner's catering equipment as much as it was a major-car stealing exercise.

Police have been on the scene of the incident this morning and have appealed for community assistance in identifying the movement of the cars (see pictures attached).

It follows other car thefts in Wonthaggi in the past week, and the theft of keys from another home.

But more chilling were the details from the Inverloch theft.

The brazen thieves stole the keys to the cars from just outside the victims’ bedroom door.

“This morning we got up to start our day at 5am and were startled when we realised our three cars were stolen from our home,” said Nikya Toomey on Facebook.

“The  crooks helped themselves into our home, took our keys from outside our bedroom door and left with most of our life in all three of them.”

The family operates a catering and café business, Lime and Co, with early starts and a lot of their equipment in the vehicles.

“They broke into our kash van (Airstream style catering van) and attempted to steal our knives too.

“We urge anyone to keep an eye out for our three cars please.

“We feel violated, shocked and devastated. Please share this around.”

It follows the theft of a Nissan Patrol in Ivor Street Wonthaggi a few weeks ago, a prized VP Commodore from Broome Crescent recently, the theft of keys from Korumburra Road this week… and possibly more.

The message is – it’s not just enough to lock your car and keep the keys inside. Your house needs to be securely locked and the car keys secured safely away.
