C Grade, Division 1

NERRENA and Korumburra battled it out, while the other two C1 matches were abandoned due to the weather on Saturday.

Playing at the Nerrena Recreation Reserve, the home team won the toss and chose to bat.

Captain Brian Gannon made an excellent start to the innings, opening the account and accumulating 55 runs before he was caught by Rhys Butler off the bowling of Darren Scott.

Billy Trotman was run out by Noah Belvedere for 17 runs at 1/60, bringing in Gerard Murphy who kept the runs hitting the scoreboard with 22.

Korumburra bowler Patrick Beadel upped the pressure from then on, storming through Nerrena’s batting order.

Beadel claimed 4/37, including the dismissal of Chris Williams for a golden duck.

Tailender Cameron Baudinette secured the game for Nerrena, making 44 not out.

Nerrena made 7/180 and sent in Korumburra.

Shayne Harland with Iain Riddell opened for Korumburra and made 32 runs.

Riddell was dismissed by Brendan Salmon for six runs, which allowed Belvedere to come in and put 25 runs on the scoreboard.

Beadel continued his high intensity game with 42 runs before his wicket fell to Baudinette.

Baudinette went on a similar run towards the end of Korumburra’s innings, taking 3/16, including the dismissal of Timothy Morrison for a golden duck.

Korumburra finished the day with a score of 6/117.

The matches between Kilcunda-Bass and Wonthaggi Club, and Leongatha Town and Phillip Island were abandoned.

OMK had the round 10 bye. 

C Grade, Division 2

OMK claim the winover Koonwarra L/RSL

ONLY one C2 match was played out this week due to Saturday’s challenging weather.

In windy conditions, OMK welcomed Koonwarra L/RSL to Digger Park, where the home team ultimately secured the points.

Koonwarra L/RSL’s one win for the day was the toss, and it asked OMK to bat first.

Alvis Pikson put on a strong performance for the Cougars, claiming three of the five OMK wickets to fall.

Ryan Wyatt and Andrew Perry opened for OMK.

Perry was dismissed by Tyson Lund for one run after facing 10 balls, but Wyatt went on to make 21 runs.

Batting third in the order, Mathew Walker contributed the top score of 42 runs before he was dismissed LBW by Pikson.

Captain Michael Whiteside added 17 runs, Noah Furness contributed 20 runs, and Mark Wightman and Matt Whiteside closed the innings with 21 and 34 not out respectively.

At the end of its 35 overs, OMK had set the target at 5/182.

OMK bowlers Patrick Jobling and Michael Whiteside stormed through the top of Koonwarra L/RSL’s order.

It was Dan Isgro and captain Kevin Thorne who managed to put Koonwarra L/RSL back on course with 33 and 37 runs respectively.

Michael Whiteside was OMK’s top bowler, claiming 3/17.

Koonwarra L/RSL fell short with a final score 9/124.

The matches between Phillip Island and Inverloch, and MDU and Nyora were washed out.

Glen Alvie had the round 10 bye.
