Connor Sim of Bass Coast College had a remarkable ATAR score of 98.7.

Bass Coast College 

CONNOR Sim of Bass Coast College (BCC) achieved a whopping ATAR 98.7.

From Inverloch, Connor has had multiple academic achievements and awards attained throughout his six years schooling at BCC.

He has a particular interest and strength in mathematics subjects and will be embarking on a Science Degree at Melbourne University.

BCC would like to congratulate all of their senior students on the completion of their schooling this year.

There were some exceptional individual results amongst the students achieving the top ATAR scores and these occurred in a wide range of curriculum areas including English, Maths, Science,

Personal Development, Design and Technology and the Arts.

There were also exceptional Study Score results amongst their Year 11 cohort including a number of 40 plus study scores.
 
Korumburra Secondary College

THE class of 2022 have demonstrated that great things can certainly be achieved even in times of great adversity. 

The college’s two top students this year were Aaliyah Trevethan and Blake Webb, who are both looking at accepting University placements for 2023. School captain Aaliyah is also the Dux of 2022.

This year, 15 students achieved study scores over 30 in one or more subjects which puts them above the state mean.

Leongatha Secondary College

MIA Deenen of Leongatha Secondary College achieved an incredible ATAR score of 91.6 and was also the college’s 2022 DUX. 

In a statement this week, the college expressed they are equally proud of those who have excelled in their VCAL program and those who have achieved impressive VCE and ATAR results this year.

VCE: Of the 51 students receiving an ATAR this year, Mia Deenen achieved above 90 per cent with a 91.6, placing her amongst the highest achievers in the state and Louisa Campbell with 87.3, placing her within the top 13 per cent of the state. 

What’s more, some further outstanding results were achieved within individual subjects, including by Year 11 student Lachie Gill who achieved a study score of 49 in Units 3 & 4 Psychology which he undertook via an accelerated pathway.

The 2022 College mean study score was calculated at 27, with 28 per cent of students achieving a study score of 30 or over in one or more subjects. It was also very positive to see that that the college English median study score rose in 2022.

VCAL: The college is also extremely proud of their year 12 VCAL students this year with all students enrolled in Senior VCAL successfully achieving their Vocational Applied Learning Certificates. 

Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College

CONGRATULATIONS to the Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College class of 2022.

Fifty sat for VCE exams and all have succeeded. 

The class of 2022 has done extremely well.  Most will gain entry to their first or second preference for university. 

Top four: Liam Smart 96.7 and Dux, Tahlia Zizic 96.0, Kirra Gange 95.8, Kate Little 95.65

Initial calculations give the following: Median Study Score of 30, Overall Study Scores of 40 or above 8.8%, 16% of ATAR scores above 90, 34% of ATAR scores above 80, 40% of ATAR are in top quarter, 48% of ATAR scores above 70

The college is also proud of their Applied Learners too. There were 9 students pursuing applied pathways and with notable success – of the 9:

• Two has secured places in their preferred TAFE courses  

• Three have gained apprenticeships  

• Three have begun employment  

• One is seeking TAFE / Employment

Newhaven College 

DUX of Newhaven College, Hamish Brosnan, celebrated an ATAR of 97.2 at the announcement of VCE results this week.

Hamish was closely followed by Liam McDonald who received an ATAR of 94.8. 

Newhaven College Principal, Tony Corr, congratulated all this year’s VCE students on an incredible result.

Students who achieved study scores of 40 or above, placing them in the top 9% of the state, were: 

• Biology: *Tess Papas

• Further Mathematics: Ella Beasley

• Mathematical Methods: Liam McDonald, Hamish Brosnan

• Outdoor and Environmental Studies: Lara Standish

• Physics:  Hamish Brosnan

• Psychology: *Saffi Campbell Walker

Yarram Secondary College

YARRAM Secondary College has recorded a significant lift in its final-year student results, putting the school on par with others across the state.

More than three quarters of Yarram SC students achieved an ATAR of 50 or more this year, with 56 per cent of students gaining scores between 50 and 69. Twenty per cent achieved a score of 70 or more.

In 2021, 35 per cent of students received ATARs of between 50 and 69, and 19 per cent received a score above 70.

Principal Lyn Kerrison credited the dramatic improvement in results to a unique literacy program the school started in 2019 to support students in Year 7 to 9.

“Three years ago, our median study score for English was 21.7. It is now 26.1, and we have exceeded our strategic targets,” said Ms Kerrison.

Before the literacy program was introduced, the school’s median study score for English had remained stubbornly consistent.The school’s median study score for all subjects is 25.6. Last year, it was 23.6.

The school is also celebrating six students who graduated from the school’s final Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning program.
