Opposition pledges more than $40m for Island aquatic centre

The Liberal and Nationals parties have announced they will contribute $42m towards a new aquatic facility at Phillip Island, if they are elected in November.

The parties were joined by Bass Coast Shire and members of the community today at the former carnival site near Cowes on Phillip Island.

The funding would see the creation of the Island’s long awaited pool facility, which community groups and the shire have been strongly campaigning for.

The facility would include an indoor 25-metre pool, warm water swimming lesson and leisure pool, toddlers and kids play pool, waterslides and a gymnasium.

More to come.
