KILCUNDA-BASS stood victorious after a close contest with Koo Wee Rup on Saturday.
The Panthers ventured out to the Demons’ home ground to play in ideal conditions, save for the slight wind advantage that would come into play later in the game.
Kilcunda-Bass had the jump on Koo Wee Rup early, but did not take advantage of all its opportunities, so the margin remained close heading into quarter time.
A knee injury to Lachlan Burns early in the game limited Kilcunda-Bass’ midfield rotation, but Jayden Goumas continued to be a strong influence and powered through the middle – his endurance becoming an asset towards the end of the game.
The Panthers readjusted for a more successful second quarter, keeping the Demons under control down in the defensive end.
Nathan Foote was instrumental in the ruck and Jayden Graham played a sensational game in the defence.
When the ball entered Kilcunda-Bass forward line, the Panthers looked dangerous.
A considerable lead favoured the Panthers, but the fourth quarter proved to be a real tussle.

Koo Wee Rup never lost its determination and continued to fight to the last second.
The wind advantage came into play, allowing Koo Wee Rup to take more control of the ball and put an extra four goals onto the scoreboard.
The Demons came home strong, but the Panthers leaned on their training strategies and maintained what they needed to do to hold on to the win.
Coach Lee Rowe was happy with the effort, pleased to see the team handle close encounters well – a skill that will come in handy as the season progresses.
Kilcunda-Bass came away with an 11-point win.
Next week, Kilcunda-Bass will travel to Bunyip.
The Panthers intend to give this game their all and not take it lightly, as Bunyip has been a close challenger in the past.
