Parrots and Power ready themselves for finals

LEADING into the Round 16 split round, it’s time to look at run home in the Gippsland League A Grade competition and where Leongatha and Wonthaggi sit coming into September and how their finals three matches look in the lead in to the 2022 finals series.

Leongatha

The double chance is locked away due to their massive percentage.

Should get the four points against Maffra which would put it beyond doubt.

The Parrots have only dropped three matches for the season and will likely head into the finals as one of the form sides.

There will be a lot of attention on the Round 17 clash with Moe as it likely will be a precursor to the Qualifying Final line up.

RUN HOME:

R16: Maffra (8th place) – Last meeting: Leongatha 54 def Maffra 37

R17: Moe (3rd place) – Last meeting: Moe 56 def Leongatha 55

R18: Drouin (6th place) – Last meeting: Leongatha 50 def Drouin 33

Predicted Finish: 2nd  – 15-3

Wonthaggi

The Power should be back in the finals after their Round 15 draw gave them a half-game breathing space over Drouin.

They have the winless Bairnsdale side in Round 17 which will be a vital match to ensure they can keep the gap.

The Power also beat Moe in their last encounter and are every chance to repeat that result at home in Round 18.

RUN HOME:

R16: Morwell  (1st  place) – Last meeting: Morwell 53 def Wonthaggi Power 35

R17: Bairnsdale (10th place) – Last meeting: Wonthaggi Power 62 def Bairnsdale 27

R18: Moe (3rd place) – Last meeting: Wonthaggi Power 54 def Moe 49

Predicted Finish: 5th – 9 -1 -8
