LOCAL PE teacher Craig Couper is promoting the physical fitness of not just his students, but the community, outside the school grounds and times.

His plan is to hold 12 Events in 2022, spread across the Prom Coast area.

The events will each feature a choice of a 5k run/walk or a 10k run and there is no registration, costs or prizes.

The idea is for like-minded people to meet and have a run or walk then perhaps enjoy the local cafes and galleries afterwards.

Couper hosted his seventh event recently at Meeniyan.

Unfortunately, it was too cold, so much so that ice was on the trestle bridge causing everyone to slow down and tread carefully.

However, it didn't deter Sasha, whose four legs sped across the ice and gained a big enough lead to hold Ash off in the 5k (23:48), who held off a fast-finishing Fergal (23:58).

First timer Kas negative split the 10k in 59:46 with Georgie rapt with her 63:15.

It was great to see the numbers back up the next event is in Fish Creek on Saturday August 6, followed by Foster and new venue Port Franklin.
