Police on the scene of Wonthaggi shooting

POLICE are searching for a gunman who fled the scene of a shooting in Wonthaggi early on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to Fahey Street in Wonthaggi at about two o'clock this morning after reports a man had been shot.

The wounded man was flown to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police have since confirmed the victim was a man in his 40s who sustained upper body injuries. The gunman reportedly fled the scene and at 10.30am was still at large 

Police say the men involved are believed to be known to each other, and had got into an altercation for so far unknown reasons 

Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting, and Armed Crime Squad detectives want to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or have information about the shooting. Call Crimestoppers 1800 333 000
