A FIVE wicket haul from Lewis Rankin may see Inverloch retain its spot on top of the A2 ladder as the 2024/25 home and away season comes to a close.
The Stingrays travelled to the Meeniyan Recreation Reserve to take on MDU in the final round.
The home team won the toss and chose to bat.
Rankin dominated early, completely wiping out the top of the batting order.
Steve Arnup managed 21 runs late in the innings and Scott Browne contributed 19 runs. Other top Inverloch performers were Jesse Dugard with 3/25 and Cooper Newman with 2/14.
MDU was bowled out 10/84 and Inverloch opened its innings.
Riley Harris opened and made four runs before he dismissed LBW by Browne.
Rhys Newman was the other opening batsman, and he made 14 not out alongside Jack Butcher with five not out. Inverloch will continue its run on Saturday.
Can Glen Alvie chase down Nyora?
ALSO vying for the top spot is Nyora, who made a decent 7/263 against Glen Alvie on Saturday.
Bailey Henderson and Scott Peatling opened, but Henderson was dismissed for 10 runs after he was caught by Andrew Dakin off the bowling of Archie Luke.
Henry Dolphin joined Peatling at the crease, and they made 31 and 68 respectively.
They were also caught by Dakin, their wickets falling to Matthew Dakin and Ben McRae.
Aaron Kaddatz added 39 runs to the tally and Myles Cordeux continued to lift the team with 41 runs.




Reece Cordeux ended the innings with 27 not out.
Matthew Dakin and McRae were Glen Alvie’s top bowlers with three wickets each.
Glen Alvie will bat this weekend.
Kilcunda-Bass eyes Foster’s 188
KILCUNDA-BASS has Foster’s total of 10/188 in its sights.
Foster won the toss and chose to bat first at the Bass Recreation Reserve.
Mitchell Jones started well with 30 runs and fifth bat Tex Dyson went on to top score with 68 runs.
Twenty runs were added to the board by Andrew Pattie.
Kilcunda-Bass bowlers Cameron Davidson and Brad Wright shared bowling honours with three wickets each.
Singles were taken by Jaydan Tregear, Ben Rookes and Andrew Leighton.
Foster was bowled out in the 56th over and Kilcunda-Bass was able to launch its innings.
Brad Wright and Robert Wallace were the opening partnership.
Wright’s wicket was claimed by Pattie for six runs.
Wallace made 47 not out and Tregear made 18 not out.
Kilcunda-Bass played 19 overs and is sitting on 1/75.
