RIP Queen Elizabeth II

I have (just) heard on 3AW that not all the flags at the Bass Coast Shire Council building are being flown at half-mast as a sign of respect to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.  

This is a political stunt and completely ignores the fact that this woman spent much of her 70 years on the throne dedicated to bringing people of all nationalities together.  

Many countries are choosing to join the Commonwealth of Nations, which did not have the Queen as their monarch, which is an indication of the respect and admiration that the Queen inspired.  

Our anthem says “for we are one” but sadly this stunt shows that there are some who choose to pull us apart.  

It is a sad act in an already sad time.
