INVERLOCH KONGWAK welcomed Nar Nar Goon down the highway for a huge top four clash which began with both teams sitting third and fourth on the table only separated by a percentage.
In pouring rain, the hosts welcomed back star midfielder Tom Hams with the game’s first major only moments into the contest.
The Sea Eagles continued to surge forward although their entries lacked a bit of polish.
The Goon finally hit the scoreboard after Kyle O’Sullivan finished a nice end to end play, although their ill-discipline let the hosts reply.
A costly IK turnover deep inside their defensive 50 led to the first goal of the second term, going the way of Nar Nar Goon.
The hosts replied quickly following another 50-metre penalty that ended in a Lachlan Scott goal.
The Goon continued to scrap it forward and eventually answered thanks to a mark and conversion deep inside their attacking arc, as the rain disappeared.
The hosts had plenty of the play throughout the second term inside their half, although they were wildly inaccurate in front of goal.
Dermott Yawney’s goal towards the end of the quarter tied up the scores as the teams went into the main break and the Auskickers came out to play.

Nar Nar Goon claimed the first major of the third term as well as their first lead of the afternoon.
But it was IK surging it forward straight after and finding their captain Toby Mahoney for his first.
The game then went into a brief contested stalemate, until a brilliant run from Oscar Toussaint kick started a forward drive for the Sea Eagles.
The hosts began the final term in tremendous fashion, winning the centre clearance and finding speed sensation Joe Soumilas who converted on the run from outside 50.
However, the Goon were not done yet, replying straight after and giving the fans what they came for, a genuine top four contest.
IK then pumped on two goals in a row and started to press hard.
The visitors would not go away though, soaking up the immense Sea Eagle pressure and repeat entries to kick two in a row themselves, cutting the deficit back to 22-points after 20 minutes of play.
The Sea Eagle back six were superb yet again, led by the ever-reliable Shem Hawking helping them claim the massive home victory by 20-points.
They’ll go on the road next week to Koo Wee Rup to face the Demons, while for the Goon, they’ll host Garfield.
