TWO Gippsland boys Liam Jones of Inverloch and James Bruce from Leongatha have come home with gold medals from the U12 National Schoolboys Netball Championships.
Playing for the Victorian State Squad, the boys finished top of the championship ladder with Liam in goal attack.
At just twelve years of age, Liam Jones is no stranger to success.
Playing half-forward for Inverloch/Kongwak U12’s, Liam was part of this year’s premiership winning team in the South Gippsland Junior Football Competition.
Inverloch-Kongwak Primary School also took out the state school mixed netball championships against Croydon Hills.
While football and netball may be his first loves Liam also plays U14 basketball for the Wonthaggi Coasters.
“The basketball season has just begun,” said Liam.
“It’s my summer sport.”
Proud mother Narelle Jones says they are in the family car five days a week travelling to sporting fixtures and training.
Liam has one more year playing U13 mixed netball on Saturdays, with junior football on Sundays.
First time wearing a Victorian State guernsey Liam Jones said he was extremely proud to be playing boys’ netball at a national level.
