Your commentary editorial August 8, 2022, “Sentinel-Times comment” appears a counterproductive endorsement for the new era of clean energy.
With wind turbines, there is no belching cooling towers, gigantic open cut brown coal mines, no tons and tons of carbon dioxide and sulphur pouring into the air all over the Latrobe Valley and beyond into the atmosphere, no workers in employed dangerous coal mines, exploding like they did 100 years ago in Wonthaggi.
Time has moved on and yes, they will be big windmills calmly turning around using absolute free energy from nature.
With every engineering evolution; steam, turbines, motor cars, aeronautical, electronics, there is always negatives.
But to me if you can see in the far distance a modern 21st century engineering masterpiece harnessing wind energy it is a bigger positive. It is no pollution.
These devices when first developed produced around 2-3MW now the latest versions can produce 14MW.
They just get better all the time. I will gladly be appreciating them. Incidentally on a clear day you can see only around 10-15 kilometres. I’m a long-term seafarer. The new wind turbines will not be in your back yard. The sea view will still be there.
