Colourful pieces for the Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival
THE Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival was already set to be a colourful affair, but will be all the more so after an enthusiastic group gathered at Foster Library to create dazzling pieces for the event.
THE Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival was already set to be a colourful affair, but will be all the more so after an enthusiastic group gathered at Foster Library to create dazzling pieces for the event.
The 15 young participants, accompanied by guardians, chose between papier-mâché and felt bases to create their cosies.
As the selected materials demonstrate, artistic appeal and visual flare won out over creating practical tea cosies.
There was no shortage of decorative items to embellish the creations, with textas, glitter glue, pipe cleaners, yarn and thread featuring.
Myli Libraries’ programs officer Lisa Duvoisin provided guidance throughout the laid-back session.
While the theme for this year’s Tea Cosy Festival is ‘seasons’, children are not bound by that concept, so participants in the library session had the freedom to do as they pleased.
“I love to see what children can do with some pre-prepared materials and an open-ended project,” Lisa said.
All participants entered their works into the appropriate children’s category, with the majority in the primary section.
Tea cosies will be returned to their creators after the festival.
The Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival runs from May 14 to 22, with entries closing on April 29. Visit teacosyfestival.com.au for details.
