THIS year, the Gippsland Region of Horticultural Societies & Garden Clubs’ annual conference will be hosted by the Poowong Garden Club on May 21.

THIS year, the Gippsland Region of Horticultural Societies & Garden Clubs’ annual conference will be hosted by the Poowong Garden Club on May 21.

Postponed for the past two years due to the COVID pandemic and lockdowns, Poowong Garden Club members have planned an action-packed day that will be very interesting for all horticulturists and garden lovers to attend.

Gippsland Region consists of clubs from Warragul, Lang Lang, San Remo, Korumburra, Loch, Leongatha, Inverloch, Welshpool and Poowong. This conference is an annual event and each of the clubs in the region take their turn at hosting the event.

This conference is open, not only for club members to attend, but all members of the public are welcome also.

On Saturday, May 21, commencing at 9.30am, the Poowong Public Hall will open starting with morning tea on arrival, followed by guest speaker Warren Worboys.

Warren is the head curator of the Botanical Gardens and will speak and present a presentation on the evolution of the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne.

It is bring your own lunch, followed by our afternoon guest speaker Paul Robinson, local resident, and Poowong Garden Club member. Paul, a professional photographer, judge and educator will deliver a talk on the art of flora photography.

There will be plenty of time for social chit chat, morning and afternoon tea and a plentiful stocked plant stall. It’s free admission and everyone welcome to attend.
